The primary motivation for me as an artist is the creative process itself. I am continually fascinated with the potential of an artistic idea, a creative concept. A new electric ceramic glaze technique can stimulate me to try that same technique in a Raku glaze firing. What would my Raku masks look like if they were done in glass? After seeing a show on Altered Books, I immediately started making Raku Paperclay pages and put them into an Altered Book of my own. Sometimes, it feels like a bag of popcorn is going off inside my head. I need a lot of time to complete even a few of the kernels of ideas. Like Beatrice Wood, I need to live to 105.
